Ownership

Unless otherwise stated, all content on geomed.cc, including articles, article structure, summaries, original illustrations, graphics, the site design, the GeoMed name and logo, and the underlying software, is © GeoMed, all rights reserved. Content is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.

What you may do

You are welcome to:

  • read, download and print pages for your own personal, non-commercial use;
  • share links to any GeoMed page, including on social media, in emails and on other websites;
  • quote short extracts (for example up to about 100 words) for commentary, review, teaching or news reporting, provided you credit GeoMed clearly and link to the original page;
  • use our pages in a classroom or for patient education in a healthcare setting, provided you do not charge for them, do not alter them and keep the GeoMed name and page address visible.

What requires permission

You must obtain our written permission before you:

  • republish, reproduce or distribute whole articles or substantial parts of them, on another website, in an app, in print or in any other medium;
  • translate, adapt, summarise at length or create derivative works from our content;
  • use content for commercial purposes, including in products, courses, advertising or paid publications;
  • scrape, copy in bulk or use our content to train, fine-tune or evaluate artificial intelligence or machine learning systems, or to build datasets;
  • use the GeoMed name or logo in a way that suggests endorsement, partnership or affiliation.

To request permission, please use our contact page, describing the content, how you intend to use it, where it will appear and for how long. We are happy to consider reasonable requests, especially for education and public health.

Images and third-party material

Some images on GeoMed are not owned by us. We use only images that we are entitled to use:

  • works in the public domain;
  • works released under CC0 (no rights reserved);
  • works licensed under Creative Commons licences that permit reuse, such as CC BY and CC BY-SA.

Where a licence requires attribution, the author, source and licence are listed together in an "Image credits" section at the end of the article. These images remain subject to their original licence terms, not to GeoMed's copyright. If you reuse them, you must follow their licence, and works under CC BY-SA must be shared under the same licence.

Brand names and trademarks of medicines, devices and organisations mentioned on GeoMed belong to their owners and are used for identification only.

Database rights

The selection, arrangement and structure of the content on GeoMed, including its disease, drug, test, procedure and anatomy collections, may be protected as a database under copyright and database laws. Extracting or reusing all or a substantial part of these collections, or repeatedly extracting insubstantial parts, is not permitted without our written permission.

Fair use and fair dealing

Nothing on this page limits any right you may have under copyright exceptions such as fair use (in the United States) or fair dealing (in the United Kingdom, Kenya, South Africa, Canada, Australia and other countries) for purposes such as criticism, review, quotation, news reporting, research, private study or education. These exceptions are applied according to the law of your country and their own conditions.

No transfer of rights

Your use of the content does not transfer to you any ownership of, or rights in, the content or the GeoMed name and logo, other than the limited permissions described on this page and in our Terms of Use.

Repeat infringers

Where appropriate, we will block or restrict users who repeatedly submit material that infringes the rights of others, including in comments.

Misrepresentation

Please make sure your notice is accurate. Under the laws of some countries, a person who knowingly makes a material misrepresentation in a copyright notice or counter-notice may be liable for damages, including costs and legal fees.

How to credit GeoMed

When quoting or linking, please use a credit such as: Source: GeoMed, "Article title", geomed.cc, accessed on [date], with a link to the page.
